About This Supplement

Our Astaxanthin is naturally-sourced from the microalgae haematococcus pluvialis - currently the primary natural source for astaxanthin. Each capsule delivers 4mg of astaxanthin and also contains 100% NRV of Vitamin E.

A very strong and potent antioxidant

Astaxanthin is thought to be one of the most powerful antioxidants, we have formulated our Astaxanthin capsules with added Vitamin E to helps protect cells within the body from free radical damage associated with the ageing process.

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid, but unlike beta carotene or other carotenoids does not convert to Vitamin A in the human body. Carotenoids are colourful pigments and astaxanthin is responsible for the pink coloured flesh of shrimp, krill and salmon. In the case of salmon, it also helps them with the endurance they need to swim upstream for thousands of miles during the breeding season! 

Sustainable and ecofriendly cultivation

The micro algae haematococcus pluvialis contains astaxanthin at far greater levels than salmon, krill and the arctic shrimp. In its raw form, the algae can double its population in a week which makes this a sustainable source of astaxanthin.

Algatech, the suppliers of the raw material used in Just Vitamins' Astaxanthin Capsules, use a 3 month cultivation process within a state of the art facility located in the Arava desert. The cultivation process mimics astaxanthin accumulation in nature, ensuring the highest purity of astaxanthin at 95% total carotenoids.

The method used to extract the astaxanthin is called supercritical CO2 extraction technology. It is environmentally friendly being solar panel driven, making best use of the Arava desert’s stable, abundant solar radiation and results in a solvent free product.
